Have you been looking for a tasty but easy Valentine's Day recipe? Well, you've found it! These quick and tasty brownies can be made in just an hour and using ingredients you can probably find in your cupboards!

More cakey than fudgy, these sweet treats go down well with fruit, ice cream or just on their own, making them super versatile!

makes: 16 preparation: 30 minutes total time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cups melted butter

  • 1 cups granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tin of Carnation® Caramel

  • 1 tsp sea salt

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup self-raising flour

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C standard or 160C fan. Grease and line a large rectangular baking dish (mine measures 35x23cm) with baking paper making sure two sides overhang.

  2. Whisk together the melted butter and both sugars in a large bowl. Mix-in the vanilla extract.

  3. In a separate bowl, beat half the caramel with the sea salt.

  4. Add the eggs to the sugar mixture, one at a time while stirring. Add the rest of the caramel and stir.

  5. Sift-in the cocoa powder and the flour and stir until the mixture is homogenous.

  6. Pour the brownie mixture into the prepared tin and drizzle half of the salted caramel on top. Use a skewer to marble the caramel and brownie mixture slightly.

  7. Bake for approximately 30 minutes or until it no longer wobbles in the middle.

  8. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares or your preferred shapes.

  9. Serve with some drizzled salted caramel and sea salt flakes.
